It's one thing to forget where one put her keys, or what I had for breakfast the prior morning. It's still another to forget the cherished memories ... the first steps, your classmates, your first love.
For many senior citizens, memory loss is inescapable. At the same time, their families may be coming to them to ask about days gone by, or to identify family photos in dusty albums, or worse -- to identify those photos still hanging around in shoeboxes, unprotected.
With that in mind, I developed the "Wagon Flyer" (above, left) for distribution at the following new markets:
- Senior citizen centers
- Age-qualified (55 or 62+) independent living communities
- Libraries
- Community bulletin boards
- Grocery stores
- Doctors' offices
The Wagon Flyer introduces the concept of "Memory Keeping Made Easy", with an offer of classes and free workshops in journaling, traditional scrapbooking, and "Picture My Life". You may interest seniors in getting them to speak a bit about writing their own "memoir" or autobiography in short form.
Trigger their memories by developing a short Q&A about where they lived growing up; whether they had siblings; where they went to school; what they wanted to be when they grew up -- and how they fulfilled those dreams later in life.
For an opportunity to upsell, remember that "My Crush" books (Z1855 Modville and Z1856 Bluebird, $12.95 each) are as much for the young-at-heart as well as the young. Note that the new EK Tools Black Journaling Pen (Z1979, $3.25) is now available, and it features a smooth 45mm metal tip and a comfortable grip (great for elder hands), along with archival safe pigment ink.
About the Flyer: I purchased the image of the "antique boy" as a royalty-free stock photograph, and have permission to distribute. The flyer also includes the approved-use CTMH logo. I wrote the text. The flyer's concept, content and use of copyrighted material has been approved by Close To My Heart, effective 1/18/2014 - Trish.
If you'd like to use this flyer:

If you would like to purchase the right to use the "Wagon Flyer" concept and art with text, it is available for a one-time payment of $5.00 to my "Tip Jar" (in the side bar, at left). When I receive that payment, I will send an e-mail to you with a .jpeg file attached. Please allow 7-10 days for customization, though I can usually get it done more quickly.
