Exploring New Markets: New Mothers and Grandmothers

One of the largest untapped scrapbooking markets is also the market that takes the most photographs every day: new moms, dads and grandparents.

But they are also the most harried group of individuals you might meet.

Young women -- typically those under age 40, e.g., childbearing age -- are also digitally savvy and very interested in documenting their expanding family.

With that in mind, I developed the "Babycakes Flyer" (above, left) for distribution at the following new markets:

- Childbirth classes
- Parenting centers
- Daycare centers
- Community bulletin boards
- Baby product stores (e.g., Babies R Us)
- Offices of obstetricians, hospitals
- Birthing centers

The Babycakes Flyer introduces Close To My Heart's new "Picture My Life" product line. PML offers a style of scrapbooking much like the tried-and-true "Project Life", and competes head-to-head with Creative Memories' new "Ahni and Zoe" line.

PML allows casual journaling, and recording of day-to-day (or week-to-week) milestones -- a technique that is perfect for today's on-the-go family.

For an opportunity to upsell, be sure to recommend that PML also allows for a blend of traditional scrapbooking pages within the PML album. CTMH's Memory Keepers (page protectors) are available without layouts (full 12x12"), or in a variety of designs. They are also available in post-bound/D-ring binder selvage, or with the strap binding once available through Creative Memories.

New, too, to CTMH are My Legacy (TM) D-Ring and Post-Bound Albums, shown on page 134 of the Spring/Summer 2014 Idea Book.

D-Ring Binders (Z1980, Cocoa Damask, $34.95; and, Z1981, Slate Circles, $34.95), like the My Legacy (TM) Work-In-Progress Album (Z1348, Chocolate, $15.95) are non-expandable, but allow scrapbookers to easily store and change out their completed pages. Post-bound albums expand and offer the opportunity to upsell Spine Expanders (Z4120, $2.95), and Posts and Screws (see pg. 134).

About the Flyer:  I purchased the image of the baby as a royalty-free stock photograph, and have permission to distribute. The flyer also includes the CTMH Anytime Image of the Babycakes Picture My Life sampler, and also includes the approved-use CTMH logo. I wrote the text. The flyer's concept, content and use of copyrighted material has been approved by Close To My Heart, effective 1/18/2014 - Trish.

If you'd like to use this flyer:

Visitors to "Bright Ideas" have my permission to use the concept only of the Babycakes Flyer under a Creative Commons agreement known as "CC BY". This symbol (at left) is shown to allow you to share and modify my work as long as you give credit to me as the original creator.  Please change the image and modify the text to make the flyer your own. If you like it enough to share, modify or use it, please consider leaving me a tip in the "Tip Jar" at left.

If you would like to purchase the right to use the "Babycakes Flyer" concept and art with text, it is available for a one-time payment of $5.00 to my "Tip Jar" (in the side bar, at left). When I receive that payment, I will send an e-mail to you with a .jpeg file attached. This file will have not have my contact information listed, so that you can type your own information in the space provided.  If you would like me to change the contact information to your own, that can be done for an additional fee of $2.50 (total: $7.50) deposited to the "Tip Jar."  Please allow 7-10 days for customization, though I can usually get it done more quickly. If you would like additional customization (photos, text), please contact me for rates, questions or special requests. I am also more than happy to work with you to develop your own Bright Idea!

My e-mail address is cardmonkey@comcast.net.  Please put BRIGHT IDEAS: in the subject matter line. My PayPal address is esjarvis@comcast.net.

Thank you for your interest in Bright Ideas!
